Serving Hawaii’s businesses and communities for more than 80 years, American Savings Bank is Hawaii’s third-largest financial institution based on 2007 year-end assets and has the second-largest branch network in the state, with 63 branches and over 200 automated teller machines. Our Vision

It is American’s vision to be the involved, local bank committed to helping Hawaii’s businesses and communities grow and prosper. This is evident in our symbol of the kalo or taro, which represents growth, nourishment and strength. The leaf of the kalo plant was chosen as American’s logo to remind our employees and customers that we are committed to bringing vitality to Hawaii’s communities through our financial products and services as well as our community involvement.

Our Parent Company

American Savings Bank is a subsidiary of Hawaiian Electric Industries, Inc. (HEI), a Hawaii-based holding company, with two core operating subsidiaries — American Savings Bank and Hawaiian Electric Company, a utility that supplies electricity to 95 percent of Hawaii’s people.
