American Savings Bank Kicks Off "First Saturday" Community Program on December 1
Saturday, December 1, 2007 – American Savings Bank will kick off its “First Saturday” community program this holiday season on Saturday, December 1, 2007 in support of non-profit organizations in Hawai‘i. In conjunction with American’s recently extended branch hours program, all 46 of its branches that are open on Saturdays will serve as collection points for donated items for a designated non-profit organization on the first Saturday of every month.

American Savings Bank’s Martin Tadlas Named Small Business Admistration Lending Officer of the Year for Oahu
Wednesday, November 14, 2007 – Martin Tadlas, business banking officer with American Savings Bank, was honored today by the Small Business Administration (SBA) as Lending Officer of the Year for Oahu. Tadlas, who joined American Savings Bank in 2001, has been in the banking industry for more than fourteen years.

American Savings Bank Receives National Award for Hawaiian Homelands Loan Program
Friday, November 9, 2007 – America’s Community Bankers (ACB) presented an award for the bank’s Ho‘olako Pono Loan Program to Constance Lau, Chairman, President and CEO of American Savings Bank on Friday, Nov. 9, during ACB’s annual conference at the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Hawaii 3R’S Project at Mililani Ike Elementary School Repaints Exterior of Eight Portable Classrooms
Saturday, October 13, 2007 – Hawaii 3R’s has awarded a grant of $50,000 to Mililani Ike Elementary School to repaint the exterior of eight portables. If these projects had been completed by the State Department of Education, it is estimated that this project would have cost $100,000. However, through volunteer support and good contractor relations, this project is being completed for half of the estimated cost.

Dawson Group Named Native Hawaiian Business of the Year by American Savings Bank
Thursday, October 11, 2007 – American Savings Bank recently presented its 2007 Native Hawaiian Business of the Year Award to the Dawson Group at the annual Council of Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA) conference. The award, now in its fourth year, recognizes native Hawaiian entrepreneurs and businesses that work to support and advance the native Hawaiian community.

American Savings Bank Announces the End of “Banker’s Hours” in Hawaii
Thursday, August 2, 2007 – American Savings Bank today announced that, beginning August 31, 2007, all of its 64 locations statewide will offer extended weekday, weekend and holiday hours, providing more branch hours than any other bank in Hawaii.

American Savings Bank Donates $10,000 to Chaminade University
July, 2007 – American Savings Bank donated $10,000 to Chaminade University of Honolulu to help establish a new laptop loan program for students. The loan program will offer students the use laptop computers for their coursework and research. In concert with a matching $10,000 donation from G.N. Wilcox Foundation, the laptops will be available to the students when they return for classes in the fall.

Business Banking Council Reports the Hawaii Economy on Slow Decline
Thursday, July 12, 2007 – The Business Banking Council, sponsored by American Savings Bank, reports that respondents to its twentieth Hawaii Economic Indicator Study say the economy has begun a slow decline. The major indicator of this trend is the pre tax profit measure.

Tuesday, July 10, 2007 – American Savings Bank announces the appointment of Timothy Schools to Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and the promotions of David Todani to Executive Vice President, Lending and Kevin Haseyama to Senior Vice President, Treasury.

Standard & Poor's Raises Its Ratings of American Savings Bank
Monday, May 07, 2007 – Standard & Poor's Ratings Services and Moody's Investor Service, two premiere rating agencies, have both recently raised American Savings Bank's credit ratings, reflecting improvement in the bank's interest rate risk, funding profile, and capital leverage.

American Savings Bank Donates $20,000 to MA'O Farm
Wednesday, May 02, 2007 – American Savings Bank presented a $20,000 grant today to the Mala 'Ai Opio Community Food Security Initiative (MA'O Farm) and Waianae Community Re-Development Corporation (WCRC). The funds will support their Ke Ala Ho'oulu 'Ai (agricultural pathway) workforce training and higher education initiative.

Business Banking Council Reports the Hawaii Business Community Continues to Grow, Despite Decreasing Optimism of the State Economy
Thursday, March 15, 2007 – The Business Banking Council, sponsored by American Savings Bank, reports that respondents to its nineteenth Hawaii Economic Indicator Study present the Performance Indicator at 124 which is down slightly from 131 reported in the second quarter of 06.

American Savings Bank Makes $10,000 Grant to the Institute for Human Services
January, 2007 – American Savings Bank recently donated $10,000 to the Institute for Human Services (IHS) to maintain and expand their Supportive Housing Program. IHS provides shelter for homeless men, women, and children on the island of Oahu.
