Our strategy for building and strengthening our community covers many different activities which include: philanthropic giving and volunteerism, education, affordable housing, economic development and celebration of cultural diversity.

Here are just two examples of how we are reaching out to the community.

• To help the Islands' homeowners reduce the risks from natural disasters, American Savings Bank partnered with the University of Hawaii Sea Grant College Program to release the Homeowner's Handbook to Prepare for Natural Hazards.
  
  
• American Savings Bank underwrites the cost of the Senior Information and Assistance Handbook. The handbook is a reference to hundreds of public and private social health organizations providing services that benefit seniors on Oahu. It is a publication of the Elderly Affairs Division, Department of Community Services in the City and County of Honolulu. To mark our 80th Anniversary, we launched the Careers in Banking Program. As part of this program, our branch managers will be available to visit school classrooms around the state to make presentations about banking, career opportunities in the banking industry, and the importance of managing money.
