American Savings Bank Helps Plant a SEED
American Savings Bank presented a grant of $51,000 to the Small-Enterprise Education Development (SEED) Project at Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim’s office on Feb. 19. The project is a collaborative effort of the Pacific Gateway Center, American Savings Bank and the Department of Research and Development, Hawaii County Resource Center, to establish and foster economic development on the Big Island.
“This is a great way for us to help some of our small, local businesses get off the ground,” says Constance Lau, president and CEO, American Savings Bank. “The entire community will benefit from their growth.”
The SEED Project provides education and training for startup companies and existing businesses with fewer than five employees to help the companies thrive and survive. In addition, loans of up to $35,000 are available for business startups or expansions.
