AMERICAN SAVINGS BANK MAKES $10,000 GRANT TO THE INSTITUTE FOR HUMAN SERVICES
Funds to Benefit Supportive Housing Program at IHS
HONOLULU - American Savings Bank recently donated $10,000 to the Institute for Human Services (IHS) to maintain and expand their Supportive Housing Program.
"American Savings Bank has been a tireless supporter of IHS and their dedication to our mission is greatly appreciated. Without their generous gift, we would not have been able to expand our Supportive Housing Program and continue to offer shelter to those who are mentally incapacitated," said IHS Executive Director Connie Mitchell.
IHS provides shelter for homeless men, women, and children on the island of Oahu. The Supportive Housing Program has been successful in reducing chronic homelessness, particularly among individuals with serious mental illness and other disabilities. In the past year, IHS has placed 323 individuals into rental housing and helped 62 seriously mentally ill and chronically homeless individuals find and/or retain permanent housing.
Serving Hawaii's businesses and communities for more than 80 years, American Savings Bank is Hawaii's third-largest financial institution with $6.8 billion in assets and the second-largest branch network in the state, with 64 branches and nearly 200 automated teller machines.
