AMERICAN SAVINGS BANK KICKS OFF “FIRST SATURDAY” COMMUNITY PROGRAM ON DECEMBER 1
Saturday Branch Locations to be Donation Collection Points for Non-profits
HONOLULU – American Savings Bank will kick off its “First Saturday” community program this holiday season on Saturday, December 1, 2007 in support of non-profit organizations in Hawai‘i. In conjunction with American’s recently extended branch hours program, all 46 of its branches that are open on Saturdays will serve as collection points for donated items for a designated non-profit organization on the first Saturday of every month. The program debuts on December 1 in support of senior citizens served by Catholic Charities Hawai‘i.
“We developed ‘First Saturday’ as a means of providing the community with a convenient way to make donations of goods to those in need,” said Constance H. Lau, chairman, president and chief executive officer of American Savings Bank. “We look forward to kicking off this program in support of our kupuna who are served by Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, particularly in this season of giving when Hawai‘i’s elderly in need are often forgotten.”
On December 1, all American Savings Bank branches that are open on Saturdays will accept donations of the following items most needed by Catholic Charities Hawai‘i:
- New and used battery-powered flashlights and radios
- Paper towels, tissue and toilet paper
- Anti-bacterial hand sanitizer lotions and wet wipes
“American Savings Bank’s ‘First Saturday’ is such a great opportunity to extend the donation reach for non-profit organizations and we are excited to be the first beneficiary,” said Jerry Rauckhorst, president and chief executive officer of Catholic Charities Hawai‘i. “There will be an American Savings Bank branch open on Saturday in virtually every community in Hawai‘i, so we encourage everyone to bring down a spare flashlight, toilet paper or toiletries and help care for a kupuna this holiday season.”
