AMERICAN SAVINGS BANK DONATES $10,000 TO CHAMINADE UNIVERSITY

Funds will support new laptop loan program for students

HONOLULU – American Savings Bank donated $10,000 to Chaminade University of Honolulu to help establish a new laptop loan program for students. The loan program will offer students the use laptop computers for their coursework and research. In concert with a matching $10,000 donation from G.N. Wilcox Foundation, the laptops will be available to the students when they return for classes in the fall.

Currently, Chaminade students have access to 45 computers, or roughly one computer for every 65 students, which are located at the Chaminade library. The new laptop loan program will allow students to complete their coursework and conduct research beyond the confines of the library, and also significantly increase the number of computers available to Chaminade students.

“It is important as a higher institution of learning that we stay on the top of the technology curve, and we are thrilled that American Savings Bank has chosen to support this exciting new opportunity for Chaminade University. The new laptops will assist our students to achieve their academic goals more easily and with greater freedom,” said Sue Wesselkamper, Chaminade University President.
