AMERICAN SAVINGS BANK ANNOUNCES THE END OF “BANKER’S HOURS” IN HAWAII

With New Extended Hours Coming to All Locations, American Will Offer More Branch Hours Than Any Other Bank in the Islands

HONOLULU – American Savings Bank today announced that, beginning August 31, 2007, all of its 64 locations statewide will offer extended weekday, weekend and holiday hours, providing more branch hours than any other bank in Hawaii.

Most notable in the hours expansion will be the change to nearly all locations staying open weekdays until 6pm or later (most competitor branches close at 4pm).

Beginning August 31, standard Monday-Friday hours on Oahu will be 9am to 6pm, or 7pm at most locations. Most neighbor island locations will also offer extended hours, with remaining branches moving to the new schedule in early 2008.

“People don’t end their days at 4pm, so why should their banks?” said American Savings Bank Senior Vice President of Retail Sales & Service David Hudson. “We don’t believe customers should have to fit their schedule to their banks’. We believe banks should adjust their schedules to better serve their customers.”

In addition, Saturday banking will now be available from 9am to 1pm, or 4 pm at 46 locations, and Sunday and holiday banking 9am to 4 pm at 14 locations. In all, American Savings Bank will provide customers more weekend and holiday banking locations and hours than any other bank in the state.

American Savings’ extended branch hours represents another significant milestone for the bank. American Savings Bank was on the forefront in introducing ATMs, bank-by-phone service, and in-store locations in Hawaii.

Selected branches in downtown Honolulu and on the UH campus will also have extended hours, open from 8am to 5pm, in order to best address the unique needs of customers in the area they serve.
