Ways to Work
Family Loan Program

Despite working hard at their jobs, many of Hawaii’s families live paycheck to paycheck. Life’s unpredictable challenges, such as repeated car breakdowns or the lack of a car altogether can plunge a family into a financial crisis. On Oahu, many such families commute long distances by bus because they cannot afford to live where there are employment opportunities.

American Savings Bank is working with the YWCA to assist low income families on Oahu. We offer qualifying borrowers access to credit and opportunities for economic self-sufficiency by providing loans to help low-income families with the purchase of a used car, pay for necessary repairs, child care, or certain other needs.

This unique program provides an opportunity for families who cannot get a loan elsewhere and allows them to repay the loan at a modest interest rate.
