American Savings Bank donates more than $450,000 to Hawaii nonprofits

ASB March 21, 2016 | 5 min read N/AHONOLULU – American Savings Bank (ASB) has donated more than $450,000 to Hawaii non-profits through their Kahiau employee giving campaign, ASB direct corporate support and the Hawaiian Electric Industries Charitable Foundation (HEICF).
ASB supports initiatives that promote educational excellence, build strong communities and foster economic growth through donations, sponsorships, grants and scholarships.
In its fifth year, ASB’s Kahiau Giving Campaign provides an opportunity for employees to donate to any of ASB’s nonprofit community partners. ASB matches each employee donation up to $100,000. ASB’s Kahiau campaign raised the highest amount in the campaign’s history, with nonprofit community partners receiving $246,000 for 2016.
Through ASB’s direct corporate support, nonprofit organizations across the state received just over $80,000 in sponsorships and donations.
ASB contributed more than $124,000 to eleven local organizations through HEICF, including $15,000 to support the Astronaut Ellison Onizuka Science Day and $25,000 for Waimanalo Health Center to construct a new medical facility. Grants to Guide Dogs of Hawaii, Pacific Asian Affairs Council and Positive Coaching Alliance directly support ASB’s Bank for Education schools. Launched in 2010, ASB’s Bank for Education program supports Hawaii’s K-12 schools. ASB has contributed more than $1,000,000 to public and private schools across the state through the program.
