HONOLULU, HAWAII, August 31, 2016 — For the fourth year in a row, American Banker Magazine and Best Companies Group have named American Savings Bank (ASB) one of the Best Banks to Work For in 2016. In total, only 60 banks across the nation achieved “Best Bank” status, ASB was number 59 in the overall ranking. ASB is the only Hawaii bank to make this list in the past four years. The full Best Banks to Work For list is featured in the September issue of American Banker Magazine.
Determining the Best Banks to Work For involved a two-step process. The first step consisted of evaluating each participating bank’s workplace policies, practices and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of employee surveys assessing the experiences and attitudes of individual employees regarding their workplace. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top banks and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process, analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final ranking.
“We make banking easy for our customers. A big part of making this happen is having an awesome employee experience. This award is a reflection of the great people we have and all the great things they do for our customers each day,” said Rich Wacker, President and CEO of American Savings Bank.
ASB team members enjoy benefits such as weekly paydays, paid time off, birthday holiday, profit sharing, casual attire, tuition assistance, discounted gym memberships, and ASB’s LifeBalance wellness program. ASB’s health benefits include specialty offerings such as massage therapy, chiropractic support, acupuncture and pet insurance, among others. In addition to the American Banker Magazine recognition, ASB has also been named as one of the “Best Places to Work in Hawaii” for seven consecutive years by Hawaii Business magazine and
recognized as one of Fortune Magazine’s 50 Best Workplaces for Women, 50 Best Workplaces for Diversity, and Best Workplaces for Asian Americans.
