HONOLULU, September 29, 2017 – American Savings Bank (ASB) today celebrated the grand opening of its newest branch in the state of Hawai‘i. The Kapolei branch is located conveniently across from Foodland Kapolei off of Kapolei Parkway at 888 Wakea Street.

“We are excited to further our commitment to the West O’ahu community with the unveiling of this brand new branch in Kapolei,” said Rich Wacker, president and CEO of ASB. “At ASB, we know our customers are busy and working hard. We strive to make banking easy for our customers by investing in new branches and updating our existing locations.”

Notable features of the new Kapolei branch include a two-lane drive-through teller line; additional safe deposit boxes; and convenient hours, open seven days a week and on holidays. The branch is the first Hawai‘i building designed from the ground up to feature View Dynamic Glass, a digitally connected glass that intelligently tints to control glare and heat to create a more comfortable environment for customers and teammates. The branch team is led by branch manager Nina Cabal and assistant branch manager Tiarre Salima-Domen.

Kahu Kordell Kekoa conducted a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony at the new branch, preceded by remarks from special guests Honolulu City Councilmember Kymberly Marcos Pine and Rock Riggs, Chief of Staff of Senator Mike Gabbard, on behalf of the Hawai‘i State Senate.

During the grand opening celebration, ASB announced a charitable donation of $3,000 to Partners in Development Foundation (PIDF). A local nonprofit that has made an impact in West O‘ahu and throughout the state of Hawai‘i for over 20 years, PIDF inspires and equips communities for success using Native Hawaiian values and traditions by developing and implementing programs to address the needs of at-risk groups within the community.

In addition to the Kapolei branch, ASB recently opened a new branch in Liliha. The bank currently has several additional development projects underway, including the construction of its Kahului Campus on Maui, which will include a new branch and training facility, and the construction of a new branch to serve the Kalihi community.

Work continues on the brand new ASB Campus in downtown Honolulu, which will bring together approximately 600 teammates from five locations on O‘ahu in an innovative, collaborative workplace. The campus will also include a bank branch. ASB anticipates completing construction on the ASB Campus towards the end of 2018, with opening slated for early 2019.
