Wednesday, December 3, 2014 – Hawaiian Electric Industries, Inc. (NYSE:HE) today announced that its Board of Directors has unanimously approved a plan to spin off ASB Hawaii, Inc., the parent company for American Savings Bank, and establish it as an independent publicly traded company. The spinoff of ASB Hawaii is contingent upon the closure of the separately announced definitive agreement under which NextEra Energy, Inc. will combine with HEI and will occur immediately prior to the closing of the NextEra Energy-HEI transaction.
Friday, February 20, 2015 - American Savings Bank (ASB) unveiled its new Ewa Branch on February 20 at the Laulani Village Shopping Center. The public was invited to the blessing. The ceremony caps eight months of construction.
Sunday, November 23, 2014 - American Savings Bank (ASB) plans to build a new corporate campus near Downtown Honolulu that will serve as its new Hawaii headquarters, bringing together 600 of its employees from around the island, including its top executives, in a 100,000-square-foot building. 
Tuesday, November 4, 2014 - American Savings Bank (ASB) took top honors at the Small Business Administration (SBA) 15th Annual SBA Lender Awards. ASB was honored for making the most SBA Loans (161) in the Hawaii District and took top honors in their lending category for mid-size lenders in several award categories.
Tuesday, October 28, 2014 - For the second year in a row, American Banker and Best Companies Group have named American Savings Bank (ASB) one of the Best Banks to Work For in 2014. In total, only 40 banks across the nation achieved “Best Bank” status, ASB was number 27 in the overall ranking and number 4 in the category for banks with $3 billion to $10 billon of assets. ASB was the only Hawaii bank to make this list. The full Best Banks to Work For list will be featured in the November issue of American Banker Magazine.
Friday, October 24, 2014 - American Savings Bank (ASB) unveils its renovated Kailua Branch on Friday, October 24 at 8:45 a.m. The public was invited to the blessing.
August 2014 - American Savings Bank (ASB) has provided a $20,000 grant to the Hawaii Home Ownership Center (HHOC). This grant will be used to fund two primary HHOC programs: homeownership loss prevention and homeownership promotion. HHOC’s homeownership loss prevention classes educates and assists distressed homeowners, providing options to avoid foreclosure, while the homeownership promotion classes, prepares first time home buyers.
Wednesday, July 23, 2014 - American Savings Bank (ASB), has committed $100,000 to the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship (PACE) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM), Shidler College of Business. As part of a five-year commitment, this gift will support entrepreneurial education and help UHM monetize research efforts. In recognition of this gift, one of the co-working spaces will be named in ASB’s honor.

Friday, March 21, 2014 - American Savings Bank (ASB) is a proud community supporter of the Polynesian Voyaging Society’s Mālama Honua voyage. From Monday, March 24, 2014 through Saturday, April 19, 2014, ASB branches will be accepting cash donations from customers for the voyage and for each donation of $25 or more, ASB will give customers a complementary eco-bag displaying the voyage route.
